$45,000...then returns it

When Josh Ferrin closed on his family's first home, he never thought he'd make the discovery of a lifetime — then give it back.

Ferrin picked up the keys earlier this week and decided to check out the house in the Salt Lake City suburb of Bountiful. He was excited to finally have a place his family could call their own.

As he walked into the garage, a piece of cloth that clung to an attic door caught his eye. He opened the hatch and climbed up the ladder, then pulled out a metal box that looked like a World War II ammunition case.

"I freaked out, locked it my car, and called my wife to tell her she wouldn't believe what I had found," said Ferrin, who works as an artist for the Deseret News in Salt Lake City.

Then he found seven more boxes, all stuffed full with tightly wound rolls of cash bundled together with twine — more than $40,000.

Ferrin quickly took the boxes to his parent's house to count. Along with his wife and children, they spread out thousands of bills on a table, separating the bundles one by one.

They stopped counting at $40,000, but estimated there was at least $5,000 more on the table.

Ferrin thought about how such a large sum of money could go a long way, pay bills, buy things he never thought he could afford.

"I'm not perfect, and I wish I could say there was never any doubt in my mind. We knew we had to give it back, but it doesn't mean I didn't think about our car in need of repairs, how we would love to adopt a child and aren't able to do that right now, or fix up our outdated house that we just bought," Ferrin said. "But the money wasn't ours to keep and I don't believe you get a chance very often to do something radically honest, to do something ridiculously awesome for someone else and that is a lesson I hope to teach to my children."

He thought about the home's previous owner, Arnold Bangerter, who died in November and left the house to his children.

"I could imagine him in his workshop. From time to time, he would carefully bundle up $100 with twine, climb up into his attic and put it into a box to save. And he didn't do that for me," Ferrin said of the man who had worked as a biologist for the Utah Department of Fish and Game.

Bangerter purchased the home in 1966 and lived there with his wife, who died in 2005.

After most of the money was counted, Ferrin called one of Bangerter's sons with the news.

Kay Bangerter said he knew his father hid away money because he once found a bundle of cash taped beneath a drawer in their home, but he never considered his dad had stuffed away so much over the years.

"He grew up in hard times and people that survived that era didn't have anything when they came out of it unless they saved it themselves," Kay Bangerter, the oldest of the six children, told the Deseret News. "He was a saver, not a spender."

Bangerter called the money's return "a story that will outlast our generation and probably yours as well."

"I'm a father, and I worry about the future for my kids," Ferrin said. "I can see him putting that money away for a rainy day and it would have been wrong of me to deny him that thing he worked on for years. I felt like I got to write a chapter in his life, a chapter he wasn't able to finish and see it through to its conclusion."

HONEST

Kenapa Sembah Kaabah tu?

"Kenapa orang Islam sembah bangunan kain hitam tu?"

"Oh.. itu Kaabah atau nama lainnya Baitullah"

"Baitullah tu apa?"

...

"Secara terjemahan mudah maknanya Rumah Allah"

"Allah ada dalam tu?"

"Tak.."

"Jadi, kenapa sembah bangunan tu kalau Allah tak ada dalam tu?"

"Yang saya sembah bukannya bangunan tu.."

"Kamu sembah apa?"

"Saya sembah Allah swt"

"Jadi, kenapa sembah bangunan tu?"

"Saya menghadap sahaja ke arah Kaabah tetapi saya tak sembah Kaabah.."

"Bukankah kamu sujud ke arah Kaabah, maknanya kamu sembah Kaabah la.."

"Kamu pernah tgk perlawanan bola dalam TV?"

"Pernah.. selalu.."

"Kamu tengok tv ke tengok perlawanan bola?"

"Tengok perlawanan bola la.."

"Di mana?"

"Dalam tv la.."

"Cuba buka tv tu, tengok di dalamnya ada stadium dan perlawanan bola ke tak.."

"Memanglah tak ada.. tapi itukan gambarnya ada.."

"Bukalah dalam tv, tengok ada ke tak gambar perlawanan bola dalam tu.."

"So..?"

"Maknanya kamu tengok tv, bukan perlawanan bola.. betul tak?"

"Tak.. aku tengok perlawanan bola la melaui tv tu.."

"Peliknya.."

"Sebab apa pulak pelik?"

"Erk.. kau betul.."

An Nawawi 40 Hadith (16)

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (radiAllaahu anhu),

That a man said to the Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam : "Counsel me", so he (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said :

Do not become angry.

The man repeated [his request for counsel] several times, and he (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said :

Do not become angry.

It was related by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim.

Explanation of Hadeeth Number 16

The author of "al-Ifsaah min al-Jaa'iz" said that the Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam recognised in this man considerable anger, so he singled out for him this particular advice. And the Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam has praised the one who is able to control himself at the time of anger, and has said "The powerful man is not the one who is able to wrestle, but the powerful man is the one who is able to control himself at the time of anger". And Allaah ta'aalaa has also praised such a person where He says : "those who repress their anger, and who pardon others" [aal-'Imraan, 134]. And it is narrated from the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) that he said : "Whoever represses his anger while he is able to express it and is not in the wrong, then Allaah 'azza wa jall will call him amongst the best of Creation on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be allowed to choose whoever he wishes from amongst the Hoor."

And it has also been narrated in another hadeeth : "Verily anger is from Shaytaan", and it is because of this that the angry person is no longer able to deal justly, and he speaks falsehood, and he takes on many blameworthy characteristics, and he takes into his heart feelings of hatred and malice and other than that of the despicable, forbiddden characteristics - and all of this is from anger, may Allaah protect us from it. And it has been narrated in the hadeeth of Sulaymaan bin Sarud : "Verily seeking refuge with Allaah from Shaytaan, the outcast, causes the anger to recede." And this is because Shaytaan is the one who beautifies anger and all other such blameworthy affairs, for Shaytaan always tries to mislead man and keep him away from the Pleasure of Allaah 'azza wa jall, and so seeking refuge with Allaah from him is one of the strongest weapons available to repel his evil designs.

Summary :

  • That one can simply ask for advice or counsel from a teacher
  • That one must not become angry because of impatience
  • That the teacher may delay in responding to the question
  • That the teacher can be asked the same question serveral times
  • That the teacher can respond with the same answer each time

Cool Chairs

Shopping Cart Chair
“Annie” is a shopping cart turned into a comfy cute chair from reclaimed design gurus Reestore. We've all seen old decrepit shopping carts left by the side of the road, and it is a sad, sad sight. That's why we are touched to see UK designer Max McMurdo taking an interest in these old cast-offs and restoring them to life by turning them into bright and cheery furniture.

Mama Chair
Embracing Mama is an unusual kind of chair. It has arms and it can warmly embrace everybody who sits on it. Made by Lithuanian home designer Rasa BaradinskienÄ.

Cassette Tape Chair
C assette tapes are an all-but-extinct technology, but that doesn't mean you can't still put them to use. You could turn them into a lamp, for instance – or how about a chair made from cassettes? That's exactly what the guys at OOO My Design did when they made their Silla cassette tape chair, created from a variety of old tapes. I'm not sure how comfortable it would be to sit on top of dozens of tapes and tie-wraps, but it does look cool, don'cha think?

Dont Walk Chair

Magic Chair

How does Peter Bristol's Cut Chair work? The secret is that the one solid leg is firmly anchored to a steel plate beneath the carpet. Three well placed leg “stumps” and the chair looks as though it has just been magically sliced apart. Bristol hopes to put the Cut Chair into production.

Number Chairs

These number chairs are awesome! The possibilities are endless- arrange the chairs to form today's date or as many digits of pi as you have seats at your dining room table. You can arrange all your friends backwards down the number line. The only rule is it begins with endless numerical possibilities.

10 Pembasuh Dosa & Penawar Hati

Kemudian, si tabib itu menjelaskan:

"Ambillah sepuluh macam ramuan:

  1. Ambillah akar pohon fakir bersama akar-akar pohon tawaddhu' (kerendahan hati),
  2. Campurkanlah padanya tumbuhan taubat,
  3. Taruhlah ke dalam bekas keredhaan,
  4. Tumbuklah dengan penumbuk qana'ah,
  5. Masukkan dalam kuali taqwa,
  6. Lalu tuangkanlah padanya air malu,
  7. Didihkanlah dengan api mahabbah,
  8. Tuangkanlah ke dalam gelas syukur,
  9. Kemudian kipaslah dengan kipas harapan,
